PlanNet21’s acquisition of eCom Solutions takes group revenue to more than €50m
Dublin, Ireland, Tuesday, 20th October, 2020: Annual revenue at PlanNet21, an indigenous, full service provider of IT, unified communications, security and cloud solutions, will exceed €50 million this year, following the acquisition of Dublin-based eCom Solutions for an undisclosed sum.
eCom specialises in technology solutions that address the IT network, cybersecurity and managed service markets.
The acquisition brings combined total headcount at PlanNet21 to 140.
Founded in 1998, PlanNet21 is a privately-owned, multi-award winning technology solutions provider, headquartered in Dublin with branch offices in Cork, Galway, Belfast and Edinburgh.
eCom will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity and will enjoy access to a greater range of technology solutions that it can market to its enterprise and service provider customers.
Commenting on the deal, Peter Carroll, CEO with PlanNet21 said:
“Quite apart from greater market penetration, this deal also gives us access to a team of high-calibre engineering staff and a wider portfolio of industry-proven services, particularly around cloud and managed security. Our customer bases are very complementary with little overlap and this positions us very favourably to achieve our ambitious growth forecasts into the future.”
Welcoming the acquisition, Sean Martin, CEO of eCom Solutions said:
“We’re very keen to exploit the service synergies that now exist between both organisations. PlanNet21 is very strong in collaboration and unified communications. We’ve carved out a very successful business based on cybersecurity and on-site design and implementation services. These complementary skillsets will benefit existing and new customers across all industry verticals.”
eCom is a Fortinet Platinum partner in Ireland, the highest possible accreditation, and has been recognised as Fortinet’s most successful enterprise security partner here for three years in succession.
Brendan O’Brien, CFO with eCom Solutions said:
“Our scale and stronger, combined financial stability allows us to pursue larger opportunities than we would have traditionally been able to. We see great potential for NetSiS, our remote managed network and firewall service, which provides valuable insights into network performance and availability as well as access to critical information like threats and potential network capacity congestion.”
Naomi Mulchrone, sales director, PlanNet21 said:
“Combining over two decades of extensive experience in enterprise networking, collaboration, data centre and security solutions, PlanNet21 sees the move to cloud as a game-changer for all organisations. As we move forward, PlanNet21 will continue to expand our cloud portfolio enabling customers to fully harness the value of cloud.”
The eCom acquisition follows two other acquisitions by PlanNet21 in the recent past. Dublin-based networking specialist, Agile Networks was acquired in 2017 and the business assets of Scottish-based Hutchinson Networks in 2019.
The group’s strong financial position will facilitate its strategy to pursue further acquisition targets. This strategy will expand its technology offering and drive further market penetration in Ireland and abroad.
